What made you decide to start your company?
Alan Adewale Speaking-
“I was around 16years old when I decided I wanted to run my own company. I always had a passion for art and fashion due to me excelling in my GCSE Art Class, to going on to college to further my knowledge in Art and Design.
This is were I covered a wide area of subjects from sculpture frames to textiles.
I then went to University where I met Vidal; being along side him gave me a different feel into Fashion. I was introduced to other colors than black which I mainly had a focus on because that emphasized my lifestyle. As time passed by in University, days went on and I noticed these eccentric colors in the outfits worn by Vidal and the different detail's in the garments he wore. We therefore discussed our views on fashion and most importantly our passion for it. From then I thought why wear clothes designed by others when myself and Vidal’s creative views on fashion could be exposed to the mass audience. Lets start our own fashion company and create the different aspects we live around and th
Vidal Bull:
What made me start my own company was the way I dressed and my hairstyles was one of my strong points into why it made sense to start it. People at my university always looked to me for the new trends and what was the latest prodcuts in fashion. Studying Graphic Design at A-levels and Art Design made me strong at my field as I had the experience of creative arts and the ablity to construct eclectic pieces.
Meeting Alan was great as I was able to gel with someone on business level and a friendship level. We lived together for 4 years and starting up our company was always a dream of ours. When it finally it happened we were able to create things together and work hand in hand with our ideas. We was joined by an additional person to the brand in our 2nd year of University by the name of Idris. He has been a strong player on the team as has been designated as PR Manager and Fashion Consultant. Idris has been strong in terms of the driving force behind the brand, marketing, liaising with the right people and has been able to push all members of VA-Garments showing strong loyalty to the team.
What did you do before starting COMPANY NAME?
Alan Adewale speaking-
“Before starting up Visual Artistic Garments, I was a student studying Graphic Design and was really into making and developing magazine layouts as well as loving the use of typography.”
Vidal Bull:
Before Starting up Visual Artistic Garments, I studied Media Production whilst doing fashion photography working with models. As well as studying I was into modeling and recording music as one of my main passion's.
How did you decide your brand name?
Visual Artistic Garments. We create visually stimulating garments, unique for their cut and construction coupled with strong characteristic's and quirky designs. We believe this sums up the garments being Visually (stimulating), and Artistic in every way possible.
What makes your company different from others in the same industry?
We aim to produce fashion for not just one stereotype or target market. Our clothes have flexibility to them and so can be worn by all walks of life.We try to show this through the various models and marketing campaigns we create.
Although the main factor that sets us aside from our competitors is not only our constant drive to keep raising the bar, setting and achieving our goals, but our unique stamp on clothing with the various concepts behind a collection to the products themselves. As previously stated, we cater for the mass audience both in the UK and Europe and try to draw on our experiences and influences and dictate this through our design work.
Our blend of upper end fashion with urban culture continually brings innovative ideas and new styles each season for our consumers.
Can you describe your typical working day?
A typical day usually starts with me picking up from where I left off the day before. Most times have a Conference call with my business partner and our PR Manager, outlining what needs to be done today and what hasn’t been completed. Research highly into the fashion trends that are out and always keeping an eye out for different color trends.
We always keep in contact with our manufacturers, and everyday is a design day as we feel we need to be ahead of ourselves to create the best products possible.
That idea will develop from one to another after Vidal and myself have gone through them. We would then receive valuable input from Idris and go onto looking at several materials that could be used to produce each item.
What is the hardest part of running your own business?
The hardest part of owning your own business, is owning your own business as a whole. Understanding that fashion is not just about create a fantastic product, it then onto the right people at the right time seeing the product, which then leads onto its visual outlook and the list goes on.
Every task that goes with running a business such as keeping up with your own appointments and making sure that you start your day and stay focused are all our own responsibility.
Although having said that, this is not a problem with us at VA-Garments as we try to make sure we stay on task and are always evolving. We each play our role to the best of our ability and as a collective.
What have been the highlights of running your own business?
Everyday is a highlight for us, seeing how far the brand has come from when it first started.
Seeing the hard work we all put in and seeing it pay off, getting to meet new people and working with different companies on exclusive projects. As a brand and us personally are always growing, this in it’s own right a highlights for us.
We could not specifically put a finger on one highlight as they all carry its own weight. We just want to grow and become Internationally known for our branding value, I think then that could be be our biggest highlight.
Where do you think your business will be in 5 years time?
In 5 years time we see us owning our own outlets stores across the world. Also to be a driving force into the meaning of diverse fashion and taking our urban culture to new heights. VA-Garments having that signature finish on every single product, collection, accessory and even store layout.

Last week I went to the premiere of Anuvahood in the heart of London, Leicester Sq with Douglas MGT client KOJO (MTV/ChoiceFM). When we arrived, it was chaos, people everywhere with no order. The front of house organisation should of been much tighter, it was beyond hectic and almost put me in a bad mood, never the less, we eventually made it inside... As KOJO was doing the press rounds, I had my ears locked to the questions & my eyes on the crowd, which I have to admit was very nice... Once press rounds, getting popcorn (s/o to Joe & Tia) was complete we entered the movie theatre, for... Anuvahood.
To cut a long story short, i've seen the film "FRIDAY" (with Chris Tucker & Ice Cube), so I could see what their inspiration was. The kids will love it, a bit OTT (for me), but the 1st of its kind. Was great to see Lethal B, Eddie Kadi & Giggs on the BIG screen still, but the highlight for ME was seeing Mz Bratt at the end, if anyone knows her, please tell her this from me... I LOVE HER looooool.

Well Done Adam & the Anuvahood cast & team.

Motown at the White House
Grown folk business :-)
The White House was like a basement sound studio in Detroit in the old days, as the likes of John Legend, Seal, Jamie Foxx and others performed in front of President Obama & guests at The White House.
Motown legends Smokey Robinson & Stevie Wonder were also present to join in the celebration.
Obama on Thursday called Motown’s music “the soundtrack of the civil rights era,”
John Legend performed a soulful rendition of "Heard It Through The Grapevine" that left Foxx, who also served as the program’s host, to joke that nowadays the story was more likely to be “heard it through my Twitter.”
In order for music to go forward, we must not forget where it came from.
Sooo...
SALUTE!!!
